An Ontario man and Quebec woman are now facing even more charges in an identity theft investigation by Halifax Regional Police.

Benoit LeMaire of Verdun, Que., is now facing a total of 49 charges, while Jennifer Perrault of Oshawa, Ont., is before the courts on 14 charges.

Police filed three new charges against both accused this week: Conspiracy to utter a forged document, conspiracy to commit false pretence and conspiracy to use identity information for a fraudulent purpose.

Police first charged the man and woman last week after they allegedly attempted to open fraudulent accounts at two Dartmouth banks.
