New condo suites have terrific finishes, Tarion warranty

Once you’ve made the decision to live in a condominium, you have the choice of buying a resale or new suite. There are some beautiful resale condominium suites on the market, but before you decide, keep in mind the many benefits of choosing a new building.

First, today’s innovative exterior and interior designs offer a variety of styles that appeal to every taste, and today’s suite designs are more functional and breathtaking than ever. Take wide shallow buildings, for example. With more square footage along the exterior wall, wide shallow suites can accommodate more windows to create more natural light and a greater sense of expansiveness.

For traditional-width suites, many designs now include bedrooms placed toward the back of the suite to open up window walls for the principal rooms where owners spend most of their time. Linear kitchens provide cupboards and appliances along one end wall to not restrict the flow of light or traffic. The result? Flexibility of furniture placement, even in the most compact of suites.

Of course, whatever the suite configuration, when you buy new, you get to personalize your space by choosing features and finishes. And, oh, what finishes! Purchasers enjoy a higher level of standards than we’ve ever seen — nine-ft. ceilings and the latest trends in materials such as granite, porcelain and limestone, that used to be considered upgrades, are often included in your purchase price.

I hear from people all the time that they love to move into a brand new condominium and have all new appliances that no one else has used. Plus a new condo has up-to-date electrical, mechanical and security systems, and building amenities are much more sophisticated than older buildings with a pool relegated to a dark basement.

Last, but hardly least, your investment is protected by Tarion Warranty Corporation, which ensures that all home builders in Ontario abide by the obligations outlined in the Ontario New Home Warranties Act. This peace of mind goes a long way in helping to make your condo purchase a positive experience.

Warranty coverage, great design choices, excellent features and the ability to personalize your surroundings — when you buy new, it’s all about you!
