New low-income units open in Edmonton’s inner city

A total of 26 new units have opened in the inner city, providing options to families, couples and individuals in need of low-income housing.

The modestly sized units were a need set out by the city’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness, launched in early 2009.

“It was a good opportunity for the society to step up to the plate and identify the need,” said Cameron McDonald, executive director for the Edmonton Inner City Housing Society.

Both Harry Holt Place, at 199 Avenue and 81 Street, and Eastwood North, at 123 Avenue and 82 Street, are expected to be full by Christmas.
