There’s no such thing as a sure thing — apparently even in Hollywood, reports. Only days before actor Brad Pitt’s new movie, the baseball drama Moneyball, was due to get rolling, Columbia Pictures pulled the plug on the production, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The trade paper says studio head Amy Pascal axed the film Friday after several changes had been made to the script since it was first approved.

Moneyball is based on Michael Lewis’ book about the Oakland Athletics and their general manager Billy Beane — who put together a star Major League team despite lacking a major bank account.
