NEW YORK - Board members of New York's Metropolitan Transportation
Authority are used to being called names. “Your Ladyship” has never
been one of them.
But after her wedding to former Beatle Paul McCartney, MTA board member Nancy Shevell's proper title will be Lady McCartney.
That's because McCartney - Sir Paul, that is - was knighted by Britain's Queen Elizabeth in 1997.
McCartney and Shevell have been dating for four years; they announced their engagement this month. They did not announce a wedding date.
The marriage will be his third and her second.
The MTA board governs New York City buses and subways as well as bridges, tunnels and suburban rail lines.
Its monthly meetings sometimes feature raucous protests from transit riders outraged by plans to raise fares or cut service.
