Newborn found dead

Edmonton police are remaining tight-lipped after another newborn baby was found dead, this one inside a Bonny Doon apartment building in Edmonton yesterday.
Patrycia Chalupczynska, a spokeswoman with Edmonton Police, said paramedics were called to a residence in the area of 88 Avenue and 85 Street shortly before 9:30 a.m. when the grisly discovery was made.
Neighbours in the area say the baby was found in a tall, high rise apartment building called Sir William Place. The building is in an area where there is a large cluster of apartment buildings.
“This is such a shock, nothing like this has ever happened here,” said Debra Young, a 34-year-old who lives in an apartment building behind Sir William Place.
“This is completely insane.”
Police won’t release any details in terms of how the baby was found or the baby’s gender as their investigation continues. Homicide investigators, however, are involved in the case in what police say is a suspicious death. An autopsy is scheduled for this afternoon.
This is the third time in recent weeks that a newborn baby was found in the Edmonton region.
A newborn baby was found last week at a rural subdivision five kilometres northwest of Stony Plain. Mounties in Stony Plain say they did talk to a “woman of interest,” but no charges have been made in the case.
A 20-year-old woman currently faces charges after a dead baby girl was found inside a white plastic bag at a basement suite in the city’s north end March 19.
