A health official said Wednesday there is no cause for concern after 150 students in North Vancouver all caught flu at the same time.
The students from Carson Graham Secondary School had coughing and fever-like symptoms, which caused some of them to miss as much as a week of classes.
Anna-Marie D’Angelo, senior public relations officer for Vancouver Coastal Health, said officials look into cases where student absences reaches more than 10 per cent of the population.
“It’s keeping within the season for these kinds of things,” she said. “It’s certainly something that is going on around within the broader community right now.”
The school is boosting its housekeeping efforts to disinfect surfaces, especially in common areas.
