The case of a Toronto teen who vanished on her way to school in September has grabbed headlines across the country.

The case of a Toronto teen who vanished on her way to school in September has grabbed headlines across the country.

Save for a recovered backpack and three unconfirmed sightings 3,500 kilometres away, investigators were unable to make any headway in the search for Mariam Makhniashvili.

So, on Saturday night, the case went to an international audience, with Makhniashvili profiled on America’s Most Wanted.

The popular show profiles the cases of missing children and fugitives from justice, with the aim of helping police generate tips from viewers.

Officers at Toronto’s 53 division, which is handling the case, said they hadn’t received any new tips as of yesterday afternoon. Representatives of America’s Most Wanted could not be reached for comment.

Makhniashvili was 17 when she disappeared Sept. 14, her fifth day of school at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, near Bathurst Street and Eglinton Avenue West.
