No search for suspects in deaths of dad and son

Police aren’t searching for suspects in Sunday’s unexpected deaths of a 39-year-old man and his 11-year-old son.

The man’s common-law wife called police around 12:45 Sunday afternoon, after she couldn’t reach him.

Police discovered the bodies in the basement of the family home, a Northmount bungalow at 8403 – 138 Ave., shortly thereafter.

The case is not being investigated as a homicide, and detectives are not looking for any suspects .

Autopsies for both the father and son are scheduled for today at 1:30 p.m. Though, EPS spokeswoman Patrycia Thenu said yesterday at the medical examiner’s office, backlog may delay the examinations.

The names of the deceased will not be released or published at the request of the family, and to protect the identities of the family’s other children.

The details surrounding the deaths and manner will likely not be released publicly out of respect for the family, Thenu said.
