Mounties in two provinces searching for an 81-year-old woman missing since Thursday say she may have driven off the road.

May Milling, from Gibsons, B.C., vanished somewhere along her drive to visit a friend in Kamloops from Jasper, Alta.

Police began a search when she didn’t arrive at her destination, flying a helicopter over roadways between Kamloops and Valemont on Saturday. They say thick brush at the roadside impeded the search.

Staff Sgt. Quentin Smith say RCMP have also checked bank accounts and contacted all her known associates, but haven’t turned up any new leads.

Milling was driving a 2009 Blue Buick Lucerne four-door sedan with B.C. licence plate 147 LHF. Police are asking the public to contact them with information.
