No sign of man lost to current

The search for a man swept away in the North Saskatchewan River continued yesterday.

A 31-year-old Samson Cree Nation man, his wife and two cousins were camping near the popular Devon Bridge Boat Launch, when he was taken away by the current.

He screamed for help, but was swept downstream.

The missing man’s wife told police her husband had been drinking when he went for a swim around 1:30 a.m.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black leather jacket, a white, long-sleeved shirt and white runners, police said.

The search continued by land, air and water yesterday, but there was still no sign of the missing man by press time.
