Sadly, viral comments about an upcoming Spice Girls reunion should not be taken seriously. Spice Girls Emma Bunton and Mel C, aka Baby and Sporty Spice, joked on social media about celebrating their 20th anniversary of hit song, “Wannabe.” The news spread like rapid-fire as fans excitedly awaited the to-be-expected reunion of their favorite British girl band.

But Emma Bunton denied an upcoming tour on Heart FM, according to BBC. Don’t be too disappointed, though — she didn’t say it would never happen.

“If anything happens and it’s concrete, and we decide on something, I will let you know,” Bunton said Friday morning on her radio show.

On Tuesday, Mel B on the Today Show spoke of her hope for a reunion:

“Hopefully, we’ll gather the troops around, and we’ll get to do something to celebrate it next year. It’s in my plan, I don’t know about anybody else’s,” said Mel B.

The group split in 2001 after selling more than 75 million records and having nine number one singles. Now, 20 years after their most popular single, a reunion still remains possible.
