North Preston gets to speak up

Coun. David Hendsbee and Mayor Peter Kelly will hold an invite-only “discussion group” for some citizens of North Preston to air any grievances tomorrow night.

Members of the North Preston community, such as Wayne Desmond, president of the North Preston Ratepayers Association, and Rev. Wallace Smith are expected to attend.

Both Desmond and Smith helped organize a protest earlier this month against the exclusion of North Preston residents from a private access road that gave 12 homeowners in Lake Major a shortcut around construction.

Protesters blockaded Lake Major Road for two days until the municipality reversed its decision and closed the access road altogether.

Agenda

• Coun. David Hendsbee said the agenda of the discussion group is left up to the invitees.

• He did not wish to speculate on topics or possible results from the meeting.
