What inspires in you that nostalgic sense of a simpler time when there was more focus on community and less on technology?

Try this: a homey restaurant and gathering place that features tables dressed in brightly-coloured sunflower tablecloths, 60s music playing Who Wrote the Book of Love?, and a menu that features perfectly fried chicken with homey mac ’n’ cheese on the side. It doesn’t get more nostalgic than this.

The best part is that Jean-Albert’s food does not disappoint. The chicken was crispy on the outside without being dry on the inside. The mac ’n’ cheese was not overcooked and the silver dollar-sized cornbread was warm and fresh – the perfect accompaniment to fried chicken. And the lightly flavoured lemonade was made from freshly squeezed lemons.

The whole experience was a satisfying, nostalgic noon hour.
