Nova Scotia saw a five per cent increase in the number of tourists in September from this year compared to last, the province reported yesterday.

 

As well, through the first nine months of 2009, there was a one per cent increase in the amount of tourists from the same period in 2008.

 

For September, the province welcomed 229,800 visitors, bringing the total number for the year to 1,676,800.

 

Also of note, the number of people traveling to Nova Scotia by road was up again, this time by eight per cent.

On the downside, people visiting the province by air was down 13 per cent, while room nights sold was down four per cent.
