Nova Scotia Power is giving Haligonians cash for old inefficient appliances.
In a release issued yesterday, NSP said it is offering to rid people of old fridges, freezers and dehumidifiers as a part of the Pull the Plug Pilot Program that was launched on Monday. A professional contractor will remove and recycle any of these items free of charge, the release said.
The program, which runs between June 21 and Aug. 21, offers $35 for a fridge or freezer, and $10 for a dehumidifier.
Pull the Plug is part of a series of programs administered by Clean Nova Scotia that saved enough electricity to power 9,500 homes in 2008 and 2009.
Residents can book a pickup by calling 902-420-3467, toll free 1-877-808-4549 or online at www.pulltheplugtosave.com.
