It’s not very sexy or high-tech … but if you don’t want your skin to end up looking like an old boot, slathering on sun block year-round is a key consideration.

A couple that caught our eye: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 85, RoC Minesol Lipstick SPF 20, Ombrelle Kids Protection Milk XL SPF 60 and Coppertone Sport SPF 15.
Dr. Cheryl Rosen, CDA’s national Sun Awareness Program director, says SPF 15 — if applied and used properly — provides about 90 per cent protection against the burning ultraviolet B (UVB) rays. Any sunscreen numbers above that offer incremental protection, she says.
“When it comes to just preventing sunburn, the differences are not that great,” she says.
“One of the problems is that people don’t put on enough.”
