Numerous key issues in Ward 7

Crime, social instability, Northlands land use and revitalization are all key issues in the race for Ward 7.

More than 63,000 residents live in the ward, which includes 118 Avenue, Rexall Place and the Avenue of Champions.

Tony Caterina will be fighting to keep his seat on council while Scott McKeen, Grant Pullishy, Terry Rolls and Brendan Van Alstine all hope to give the incumbent a run for his money.

Caterina has been a vocal supporter of the city centre airport and has gone on the record as saying he is against public funding for a downtown arena project.

McKeen’s column for the Edmonton Journal focused on City Hall and he believes redevelopment of the city centre airport land is a “golden opportunity” for the city.

Van Alstine is a social worker and said he will work towards improving public safety in the ward.

Rolls believes the ward is at a turning point and is ready for a new start.

Pullishy is also running in the ward. The public hearing has already taken place but you can view it online at edmonton.ca.
