Two Nova Scotia companies made the nation’s 50 best-managed corporations list.
Dartmouth’s O’Regan’s Automotive Group, and Amherst’s PolyCello were picked and the winners were announced yesterday.
“Companies are always judged by profitability, as they should be,” said Shannon MacDonald, the Atlantic Canada regional leader of the Best Managed program.
“But Best Managed companies like O’Regan’s Automotive Group and PolyCello have been singled out for qualities that promise long-term growth. They’ve made rigorous investments in their own potential.”
It’s the fourth time in a row O’Regan’s has made this list, said owner Sean O’Regan.
“It’s our having everybody in our company buy into the goal of driving higher standards,” O’Regan said, explaining why his company is so well-managed.
In terms of big investments, O’Regan’s completed a $20-million auto mall on Baker Drive in Dartmouth last year. It also relocated a Kia dealership and renovated an older building housing one of its dealerships.
Other companies on the list included Hartland, N.B.-based Day & Ross, industrial services company Quantum Murray, and Desjardins Health Care Group.
