Offender, 15, to face judge

A 15-year-old boy is expected in court today to face various charges related to the armed robbery of a jewelry store in a busy Vancouver shopping mall.

Shots were fired during the robbery at Montecristo Jewellers at Oakridge mall on Thursday evening.

Vancouver police Insp. Eric Grummisch said a security guard and an employee of the jewelry store suffered minor injuries, but they were not caused by the gunfire. Police are still searching for three male suspects who were also involved and are still at large.

The youth cannot be named because he’s a being charged as a young offender.
