Two Lower Mainland police officers charged with the assault and robbery of a newspaper deliveryman are expected to appear in Vancouver provincial court Friday.
New Westminster Const. Jeffrey Klassen has been charged with assault and West Vancouver Const. Griffin Gillen has been charged with robbery in an alleged off-duty attack on Firoz Khan.
Both officers had been suspended with pay. However, in a release Thursday, New Westminster Police Service announced that Klassen’s suspension had changed to ‘without pay.’
The alleged attack occurred outside the Hyatt Regency on Burrard Street at 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 21.
A member of Delta’s police force was also arrested, but no charges were laid against him.
