Officials out to enforce law over long weekend

This long weekend, Ottawa police, OC Transpo special constables, Ottawa bylaw services, Ottawa fire services and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario are teaming up to conduct a High Visibility Zero Tolerance Weekend enforcement campaign.

Running Friday and Saturday, the campaign will address crime and disorder issues in the downtown core, Sandy Hill and Vanier as part of the continued strategy to ensure public safety and a high quality of life in the area.

Officers will focus on Liquor Licence Act offences including public intoxication, underage drinking, overcrowding and over-serving in bars, by-law offences and excessive noise in residential areas, Safe Streets Act and Highway Traffic Act offences and street-level drug trafficking.
