Two Halifax girls got, like, the best Christmas present ever this year.
Taylor Brunt and her cousin Tori Hoadley, both 15, won a MuchMusic contest to meet their idols the Jonas Brothers in Las Vegas. It’s called My Date With … Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato.
Brunt said she’s been a fan of the JoBros since their first album came out.
“Their music I can relate to a lot. Like, the lyrics are what teens go through. And with them, they’re really cute.”
The three brothers from Wycoff, N.J. — Kevin, 21, Joe, 19, and Nick, 16, — have been selling out shows around the world. Brunt said the youngest, Nick, is her favourite.
“They’re just really awesome and I was just so glad to meet them.”
In late November, Brunt and Hoadley were waiting in a room back stage at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The Jonas Brothers were gearing up for a second sold-out show at the venue.
“When they first came in it was just Joe and he’s like, ‘Hey guys.’ I said, ‘Tori look behind you,’ and she’s like, ‘What?’ and I said, ‘Tori just look behind you’ and she’s like ‘Oh my god!’”
The Jonas Brothers signed the girls’ posters as they were a little lost for words.
“I was like, ‘You guys are awesome,’ and they were like, ‘Thanks, we love you.’ I was like, ‘I love you, too.’”
This emotional moment was, of course, caught on tape.
The half-hour special premiered last night and will and run several more times.
“We were with them for 10 minutes, but it was the best 10 minutes of my life,” Brunt said. “I’ll never forget it.”
Not at the same excitement level, but still pretty cool was the experience of meeting actress and singer Demi Lovato.
“She is really pretty. Honestly, she’s really short,” Brunt said.
“She told us lots of stuff like she has to have cheese and deli meats in her dressing room and her idol is Kelly Clarkson, and stuff like that.”
