A high-speed rollover near Morinville yesterday left one person dead and saw injured people littered all over the roadside.
None were wearing seatbelts, RCMP in the town 40 kilometres north of Edmonton told Metro yesterday.
Const. Laurel Kading said a 2005 Dodge Ram truck left the road at the intersection of Highway 28 and Highway 37 and rolled repeatedly. The 30-year-old driver died after being ejected from the spinning vehicle.
A 22-year-old Edmonton woman was ejected, a second woman, a 20-year-old from Cold Lake, was ejected and pinned under the vehicle when it came to a rest.
A 30-year-old man from Leduc remained in the truck in the rear seat area.
All three were badly hurt and taken to Royal Alexandra hospital in Edmonton. The two women were listed in critical but stable condition; the man was in serious but stable condition.
In the aftermath of the crash, Morinville RCMP want to remind drivers that seatbelts save lives and reduce injuries.
