One dead, one injured in car crash

A two-vehicle crash early yesterday has left one man dead and another needing an airlift to a nearby hospital.

The driver, Brian Clark, 54, was driving west in a pickup when the vehicle collided with an incoming ambulance which was carrying a patient. Clark was declared dead on the scene.

The female driver of the ambulance was treated at the Smoky Lake Health Centre while the patient being transported was admitted as well.

A female ambulance attendant was air lifted to Edmonton by STARS air ambulance.

None of their injuries appear to be life-threatening.

The passenger of the pick-up, a 50-year-old male, was transported to the Smoky Lake Health Centre with undetermined injuries.

Police say that neither alcohol or weather appear to be factors in the collision.
