RCMP are investigating a rollover that left one woman dead and sent two others to hospital early yesterday morning.
Shortly after 5 a.m., Cochrane RCMP responded to the scene on Highway 1, east of the Highway 22 overpass, where they found a young woman dead at the scene after she was thrown from the vehicle.
Stuart Brideaux of Alberta Health Services EMS said the deceased and two others in the vehicle were all in their late teens.
“We know the vehicle was eastbound … when the rollover occurred, but where they had been coming from or where they were headed, I don’t know,” said Brideaux.
RCMP said they believe the deceased was not wearing her seatbelt, while the driver and other passenger were wearing their belts.
While the investigation is ongoing, RCMP believe alcohol may have been a factor.
