Not being in a relationship has certainly worked to 25-year-old Tanis Ferguson’s advantage.
The Mount Royal College land administration student, chosen as one of the hottest 30 Lavalife singles in Canada, was later voted into the top 10 by her peers.
As part of her prize, she won a round trip flight to Toronto for a Lavalife party where she will walk the red carpet and a chance to win the top single prize of $10,000.
“I’m pretty excited, a little bit surprised and completely flattered,” said Ferguson, who solicited all of her friends (and friends of friends) to vote for her on Facebook.
Ferguson, who has been on the Internet social site on-and-off for three years, has met about 60 people on Lavalife, many of whom have become good friends.
Ferguson said she was chosen to be in the top 30 singles based on the personality she portrayed in her portfolio, fashion sense, and someone who fits the Lavalife culture.
“I showed them who I was by putting pictures from girls’ night outs, one from my birthday of me getting out a limo, and one of me having a glass of wine at a trendy spot in Calgary.”
If she wins, Ferguson said she will give to a local charity, go on a shopping spree and throw a party for her friends who voted in the contest.
