One of three shooting victims dies in hospital

Toronto police are investigating the city’s sixth murder after one of three shooting victims died in hospital yesterday.

As of last night, police were waiting for a search warrant to enter an alleged unlicensed club where they believe the victims of the city’s latest homicide had been before they were shot. At around 7:30 a.m., emergency officials were called to 1762 Weston Rd., just south of Lawrence Avenue West for sounds of gunshots, said Staff Sgt. R. Smith.

As officials were arriving on Weston Road, three people turned up in a Toronto hospital suffering from gunshot wounds, he said. One was so severely injured that EMS had to transfer him to a trauma centre at St. Michael’s Hospital where he died.

Another man who turned up in hospital suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A woman was injured when her foot was grazed by a bullet.

Later in the day, three people were taken into 12 Division, said Smith.

Police say the victims are not co-operating with police.
