There were fireworks at city hall yesterday, as the four leading mayoral candidates continued to attack Rob Ford and his recent comments on newcomers to Toronto.

Rocco Rossi challenged Ford to elaborate on his controversial statements from Tuesday’s CP24 debate, when the Etobicoke councillor said: “It’s right now, we can’t even deal with the 2.5 million people in the city. I think it’s more important that we take care of the people now before we start bringing in more.”

Ford defended his comments and said his opponents were trying to spin them out of context. He has been on the record before saying he supports Toronto becoming a refugee-free zone.
