Options available to better situation

Re: "A need to protest poverty," Mar. 5:

I know many people in (Charmaine Mayes’) situation, but they choose to stay in a studio (apartment), paying $500 to $600 a month, while on the constant lookout for a better paying job. It may be a little cramped, but it allows them to save money for a rainy day.

As well, with a university and college background, Mayes should have more options than just working at Tim Hortons. Even an entry level office position should pay around $10-12 per hour.

I understand the hardships that come with raising a child by yourself, but there are many steps you can take to improve your situation.
