Oscars rescheduled to accommodate closing ceremonies

The 2010 Oscars have been moved up to avoid competing with the closing ceremonies of the Vancouver Olympics.

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards will be held March 7, two weeks later than usual, according to www.hollywoodreporter.com. In recent years, the Oscars have been held on the last Sunday of February.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also moved up the Oscars in 2006 to avoid going against the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.
