Oshswa defeats Peterbrough 5-2

OSHAWA, Ont. – Christian Thomas had a goal and two assists as the Oshawa Generals defeated the Peterborough Petes 5-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday.

Thomas scored Oshawa’s first of the night and his 21st of the season in the opening period, beating Mike Morrison with a low snap shot stick side.

The New York Rangers prospect then set up Scott Laughton for a pair of goals, including one in second period on a power play. Thomas found Laughton again late in the third, before the second-year forward converted in his 12 goal of the campaign.

Tough guy Emerson Clark followed both Laughton goals with a pair of his own, scoring the winner eafrly in the third to make it 3-1 Oshawa and again late in the period to round out the scoring.

Kevin Bailie got the call in net for Oshawa (22-22-5) and made 31 saves for the victory, while at the other end Morrison was charged with the loss while making 31 saves.

Overager Andrew Yogan had both goals for the Petes (22-21-6). Lino Martschini had a pair of assists in a losing effort for Peterborough.

With the victory Oshawa moves back into a playoff position in the Eastern Conference, leaping over the idle Belleville Bulls and into eighth with 49 points, one back of both Peterborough, who is in sixth and Mississauga in seventh.
