The night before the Oscars, the more sarcastic members of the Hollywood community will be gathering to celebrate the Razzies, honouring the worst of the worst from the past year.
Leading the pack are Twilight: Eclipse and The Last Airbender. The simple ceremony is a great opportunity for stars to show they have a sense of humour about their missteps, as Sandra Bullock did last year when she showed up to accept her Worst Actress prize for All About Steve.
This year’s nominees, though, don’t seem as likely to make an appearance — especially since the four leads of Sex and the City 2 were lumped into a single nomination. It would be great to see Jennifer Aniston in attendance if her role in The Bounty Hunter wins, since the former Friend has been a good sport lately about mocking her public image. And we already love one new category: Worst Eye-Gouging Misuse of 3-D.
That same night, across town, the indie film community will be celebrating the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards, where Oscar nominees Black Swan, 127 Hours, The Kids Are All Right and Winter’s Bone are also up for Best Feature. Winter’s Bone should clean up here.
