An Ottawa man appeared in court Monday to face charges of robbery and obstruct police following a personal robbery in a Montreal road parking lot Sunday.
City police said Monday that at 1:55 a.m., a 28-year-old female parked her vehicle and was about to enter her apartment building when a male suspect approached her and demanded the keys to her vehicle.
When the victim refused, a short struggle ensued with the victim suffering minor injuries. The suspect fled on foot prior to police arrival.
Police located a male matching the description of the suspect walking eastbound on Montreal Road towards St. Laurent Boulevard. At the time of his arrest, the male allegedly provided officers with a false name and was later found to have a warrant outstanding in the first instance for assault with a weapon.
