Ottawa police to reward safe cellphone use

Cellphone users could have an encounter with an Ottawa police officer — and for once, it could be a good thing.

In December and January, Ottawa police traffic officers will be rewarding drivers who have pulled their vehicle over safely to the side of the roadway to use their cellphone with two free movie passes.

Using a non-hands-free cellphone while driving in Ontario could result in a $155 fine under the Highway Traffic Act.
