Ottawa will be spending half a million dollars to drive international big shots around Vancouver during the Olympics.
In a document from Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, the federal government is looking to hire drivers to fill chauffeur positions during the Games, but the job comes with some firm provisions. Smoking, talking on your cellphone and eavesdropping on the conversations of your clients are all strictly prohibited.
Also, using any of the cash made from the job to fund terrorist organizations or activities is forbidden.
The stringent policies surrounding the position are because the job will make a significant impression on those visiting Canada for the Games, according to the document.
Kyle Seo, manager of Vancouver Limousine Service, said his company will be driving some VIPs during the Olympics but he hasn’t been given any rules.
“We’ll be sending out four or five limos for the two weeks,” he said. “But we haven’t heard anything from the government.”
Seo did say that his company had spoken to committees from Russia and South Korea and will be providing transportation services for them.
