As part of Ottawa Public Health’s spring immunization program, Ottawa-area students will be vaccinated against the Hepatitis B virus, Meningococcal C and the Human Papillomavirus at school clinics.
In Ottawa, the HPV vaccine is available to approximately 5,000 Grade 8 female students and the Hepatitis B vaccine is available to approximately 10,000 Grade 7 students.
In addition, students aged 12-21 are eligible to receive Meningococcal C vaccine.
Ottawa Public Health strongly recommends these voluntary vaccinations.
Grade 8 is the last chance for female students in to receive their first HPV vaccine. They will no longer be eligible for the free vaccine once they graduate from Grade 8.
