Ottawans walking to show arthritis can affect anyone

The Arthritis Society is bringing its first annual fundraising walk to Ottawa this Sunday to raise funds and awareness for one of the leading causes of disability in Canada.

Thousands of people are expected to participate in the 5K and 1K walk events, held at Vincent Massey Park starting at 2 p.m.

All walk participants will wear a blue badge during the walk to demonstrate that there are multiple forms of arthritis and that it impacts Canadians of all ages and not just the elderly.

Most of the over four million Canadians currently living with the disease are under the age of 65.

While there is no cost to register, all participants who raise $100 or more receive a T-shirt.
Ottawa’s walk is held this Sunday, but the walk will be happening on May 30 in 17 other communities across Canada.
