Overweight Sheridan placed on Stamps’ retired list

Some love stories have sad endings, as is the case for Matt Sheridan and his apparent romance with fast food.

Sheridan, an offensive lineman who signed as a free agent with the Calgary Stampeders, came into camp at a ridiculous 383 pounds. He has gone on the retired list while he attempts to get back into football shape.

COVERAGE
TSN owns the rights to all CFL broadcasts again this season but Sportsnet is getting into the game with additional coverage in 2010. The network has added former all-star Willie Pless and two-time Grey Cup champ Sandy Annunziata to the Sportsnet Connected lineup as CFL analysts. Sportsnet’s CFL Preview show will broadcast June 27 while TSN will kick off its season preview June 30.

ARGOS
Jim Barker hasn’t soured on his group of quarterback prospects, led by newcomer Cleo Lemon.

The Argos’ new head coach announced that Lemon will start when the club kicks off its regular season July 1 in Calgary.

“Cleo Lemon from day one has shown us the leadership skills so he is the guy that we are going into Calgary with as our starting quarterback,” Barker said.

“He gives us someone who is a great leader; he is a guy with very good mobility and is still learning the game.”
