NEWMARKET, Ont. - Some parents in York Region, north of Toronto, are putting pressure on their school board to remove Wi-Fi from classrooms.

The parents are planning to keep their children out of school today and picket outside their school board offices. There's no word on how many are involved.

Earlier this year, the World Health Organization warned about a possible link between radiation from wireless devices such as cellphones and cancer.

Parents say this includes wireless access to the Internet.

They say some Canadian private schools and one public school board have removed WiFi, but York Region and some other boards continue to use it.

The Ontario government said in June it would examine the WHO warning but wouldn't take any immediate action to require warnings on wireless devices.
