Parking after dark downtown

Halifax Waterfront Corporation is once again selling space for commuters to park their cars overnight while the municipality’s parking ban is in effect.

Halifax Waterfront Corporation is once again selling space for commuters to park their cars overnight while the municipality’s parking ban is in effect.

“Park After Dark” started yesterday and charges a $6 flat rate for parking from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. at four lots along Lower Water Street. Commuters can also choose between a $3-per-hour rate and increments of 10 minutes for shorter visits.

In addition, the service will be offered year-round.

The program was piloted last year in response to demand for downtown parking during the winter parking ban. Starting Dec. 15, parking will no longer be permitted in HRM streets overnight.
