<p>Two men assaulted a cab driver then stole his taxi and his cash in Ottawa’s east end early yesterday.</p>




Two men assaulted a cab driver then stole his taxi and his cash in Ottawa’s east end early yesterday.



According to police, two men began assaulting the Blue Line taxi driver shortly after 2 a.m. Monday morning, after he had delivered them to the area of Hunters Point and Fox Hollow crescents and had asked them for his fare.



The victim managed to escape the car and the two suspects fled in the taxi. The vehicle contained approximately $220 in cash, a GPS system and some personal items.



Both suspects remained at large and the cab had not been located as of yesterday afternoon. Both suspects are believed to be of Middle Eastern descent, between 20 and 25 years of age. The men had hailed the taxi in the area of Bank Street and Heron Road.



The first man is described as 5-foot-9 to 6-feet tall with a stocky build. The second suspect is 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-2 tall with a thin build, a light complexion, and light hair.
