My favourite view of Edmonton is from the Marriott’s Riverside Bistro. My favourite vibe is from the roof of the Black Dog. However, my favourite patio in the city is the intimate nook behind The Dish.

Always shaded and quiet despite the nearby thoroughfare, the liana-strung space is lit with Christmas lights and blanketed with music.

This lunch hour, I mistimed our visit and ended up waiting on our order, meal and bill. My Greek strudel ($16.75) was disappointing, as its phyllo wasn’t crisp and the content was unspectacular, but the spinach salad was delicious with its abundance of feta and a boisterous vinaigrette. Sipping at a luscious organic chai ($3.75), I was satisfied but not as delighted as usual with the fare.

The Dish is part of the Original Fare group and possesses the best little patio in town.
Enjoy!
