An elderly man and woman struck and trapped underneath a produce truck yesterday are in hospital with serious injuries.
Just before 2 p.m., a truck driving west along Maitland Street was making a left-hand turn onto Yonge Street when it struck the elderly pair, according to Const. Stephen Britles.
One of the victims appeared to be conscious and was wearing an oxygen mask and moving their left arm. An emergency medical official said the two victims in their late 60s, were freed within 15 minutes and rushed to a local trauma centre with serious injuries, one in critical condition.
