Peel police are hunting for the truck drivers who struck and killed Erica Carmichael as a big rig made a turn in Brampton.
The 31-year-old woman was struck twice, first by a transport truck and then again by a panel van that followed right behind at the dinner hour Wednesday. Neither vehicle stopped.
Carmichael died at the scene after she was struck in the intersection of Torbram Rd. and Walker Dr. about 5:50 p.m. Both vehicles continued eastbound on Walker Dr., police said.
Police are seeking a bright white transport truck with a sleeping compartment and a 17-metre trailer. The cargo van is also white.
Officers set up a checkpoint Thursday on Walker Drive, stopping big rigs and vans that matched the descriptions of the wanted vehicles.
