MONCTON, N.B. - A 16-year-old Charlottetown boy appeared in court in Moncton, N.B., today to face charges of assault causing bodily harm, theft and resisting arrest.

The charges are in connection with a Sept. 4 incident in which two store employees were slashed with a knife while trying to stop an alleged theft.

Both victims were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was arrested the next day after he was spotted by an off-duty RCMP officer at a store in Dieppe, N.B.

He is expected to return to court Oct. 7.
