Pelosi removes gloves as midterm elections loom

Oft-maligned Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi plans to fight fire with fire in the lead-up to next month’s midterm elections, Politico reports. She’ll be attacking George W. Bush and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, according to prepared remarks.

Pelosi, the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, has taken a lion’s share of the anti-Democrat ire in recent months — Tea Partiers have taken a particularly strong stance against her “liberal San Francisco politics” — and has even seen some pullback from her own party.

Well, according to a speech planned for the Women of Steel Convention in Pittsburgh yesterday, Pelosi plans to fight back.

“We have lost millions of jobs to outsourcing under President Bush,” Pelosi planned to say. “We don’t intend to repeat that policy — no matter how much money the Chamber of Commerce dumps into our elections.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, acknowledged as the country’s highest-spending lobbyist group, is a pro-business not-for-profit organization.
