Piano-man to muscle man

Adrien Brody admits that he wasn’t the most pleasant person to be around while making “Predators,” the latest in the major science-fiction franchise. “I had no sugar, no alcohol. I was not having sex; I was in the jungle alone for the most part when we were in Hawaii. I was training six days a week and lifting very heavy weights, which increases your body’s testosterone output,” he explains.

All that preparation was necessary to transform the normally slender Oscar-winner into an intimidating survivalist dropped onto an alien planet to be hunted by the namesake creatures.

“It’s a chance to play a flawed, complex, villainous man that ends up being somewhat heroic,”?he says.

“Getting to play a character that’s like that in a studio action film is rare for any actor, especially an actor that has not had the opportunity to prove himself in that realm. And I’m grateful.”
