Picnicface inks TV deal

Halifax comedy darlings Picnicface have inked at 13-episode deal with The Comedy Network.
The half-hour sketch comedy series produced by Kids in the Hall alumnus Mark MacKinney will begin shooting in Halifax this spring.

“Irreverent and incredibly hilarious, we’re preparing to unleash the international Haligonian Internet phenomenon, Picnicface, on our viewers,” said Millan Curry-Sharples, Comedy Network vice-president, in a release.

The eight-person sketch troupe, which has been performing in Halifax for four years, has been called “distressingly good” by Dave Foley, another Kids in the Hall alum.

Picnicface garnered international attention — not to mention 21-million YouTube hits and the approval of Will Ferrell — with their short “Powerthirst.”
