Halifax comedy troupe Picnicface has taken a big step towards having its movie Roller Town become a reality.
It was revealed Thursday that D Films won the Canadian distribution rights to the project, which currently exists only as an online trailer.
“There’s no guarantee yet,” Picnicface member Scott Vrooman said. “Once you have a distributor onboard, it certainly gives you a pretty good hand to get money to do the movie.”
Picnicface is in talks with Telefilm Canada to fund the project.
“I don’t think it’s going to be a big-budget feature, but I don’t think we need a lot of money either,” Vrooman said. “We’re pretty pumped.”
